Your computer has four major resources:

CPU

Memory

Disk access/space

Network connection

Your CPU and Memory can be checked via Task-Manager (windows(ctrl+shift+esc)) or the command top on Linux/Mac

In window's (7,8,10,...) task manger performance tab, there is a resource monitor.
