ABSTRACT
Issues in transmitting multimedia on Internet and on ATM networks will be explained. The topics to be discussed include Internet multicast backbone (MBone) used for transmission of audio/video over Internet, the RSVP protocol used for resource reservation, the RTP protocol for real-time transport. Tools such as CUSeeMe for conferencing over networks and applications such as Internet talk radio will also be briefly discussed. Finally, the specification of MPEG2 compressed video on ATM networks will be explained.
