WGM microresonator coupling and Erbium Laser
This video shows whispering-gallery-mode (WGM) microtoroids under a microscope. The resonator is Erbium doped for lasing operation. Pump laser wavelength band is in 1450nm. Laser is generated in 1550nm band. The green light is due to three-photon upconversion of Er ions.
Detecting R=100nm Single Gold Nanoparticles with WGM
microresonator- mode splitting
Each particle binding causes a change in the mode splitting spectrum of the whispering-gallery-mode microtoroid-fiber taper system, enabling the detection and sizing of single nanoparticles.
